Keller Williams is a songwriter and musician who has incorporated elements of numerous genres including funk, jazz, electronica/dance, reggae, alternative rock, folk, and bluegrass into his style. His use of these various Forms, as well as his practice of looping live phrases using multiple instruments, has led critics to call him a “one-man jam-band.”
A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Williams started playing guitar when he was a teenager. He received a degree in theater from Virginia Wesleyan College, and then moved to Colorado to increase his repertoire and start his career in music.
Williams does most of his work as a solo artist, though he has toured with such outfits as The String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String Band, and others. He has also appeared at music festivals including Jam Cruise, the Elysian Fields Music Festival, the Summer Camp Music Festival, and the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
Williams has an extensive discography that comprises 28 albums. He released the first, “Freek,” in 1994, and the most recent, “Grit,” came out in 2022. A review says:
