The Dayton area, and Kettering in particular, will get to rock out to a concert by a band that has been performing for decades. Better yet, they are bringing their friends.
The Gin Blossoms are an alt-rock band that got together in Tempe, Arizona, in 1987. They broke through in 1992 when they released their first album on a major label, “New Miserable Experience.” “Hey Jealousy,” a single from the album, hit the Top 25 and earned a Gold certification from the RIAA. Four other tracks also charted, and the album itself was eventually certified Quadruple Platinum.
Their sophomore album, “Congratulations I’m Sorry,” which they dropped in 1996, was certified Platinum and one of the tracks from this album, “As Long as It Matters,” earned a Grammy Award nomination. Gin Blossoms disbanded in 1997, but reunited in 2001, and have gone on to release three albums since their reunion, including 2018’s “Mixed Reality.”
Sugar Ray is touring with the Gin Blossoms. They formed in 1986 in Newport Beach, and began their career playing nu metal and funk metal. They broke through in 1997 with “Fly,” a single that reflected a pop influence. Fastball and TONIC are also on the program.
They will all appear at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on Wednesday, September 6 at 7:30 pm. Concerts like this can be advertised by organizers using poster printing.
