TESLA was founded in 1984 in Sacramento, California, where they began their career as City Kidd. However, it was suggested that they change their name to TESLA, in honor of Nikola Tesla, the noted inventor.
Although TESLA got together in the mid-1980s, their sound is an outgrowth of the rock and roll of the 1970s, a decade that also inspired bands like AC/DC, The Allman Brothers, and Aerosmith.
TESLA released their debut album, “Mechanical Resonance,” in 1986, and saw two of the tracks make it into the Top 40. In 1989, they dropped “The Great Radio Controversy,” which went double-Platinum and included “Love Song” and “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out),” which were solid hits.
In 1990 they released the live album “Five Man Acoustical Jam,” a collection of their hits interspersed with classics by the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and others, a work that influenced other bands.
TESLA continues to tour and record, and the band’s latest studio album, “Shook,” dropped in 2019.
A review says:
“Man it’s hard to beat Tesla. They put on a great show with great music.”
Tesla will be at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering on Tuesday, August 1 at 8:00 pm. Organizers of events like this should consider using poster printing to create advertising.
