Bringing light to Kettering

An upcoming event in the Dayton suburb of Kettering will bring light to chase away the darkness of serious illness.

Light The Night is organized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to bring people together in solidarity to honor, celebrate, and remember those who have had to deal with cancers of the blood. The event is open to sponsors, corporate teams, schools, families, and friends of those touched by the disease. The evening is also a fundraiser that helps support advocacy, research, and support for patients and family members.

The “light” in the event name refers to the lanterns that attendees will carry as they walk. The lanterns symbolize the victory of light over darkness, and health over illness. The walk is about one mile long, and people who want to carry a lantern will need to pre-register. Attendees can pick up their lantern at the Lantern Tent on the night of the event. Wheelchairs, strollers, and dogs are permitted to take part in the walk.

Light The Night will take place on October 17 at the Fraze Pavilion at 695 Lincoln Park Boulevard in Kettering. The festivities start at 5.30 pm and are scheduled to end at 8.30 pm. The official opening ceremony and the walk begins at 7.15 pm. Everyone is welcome, and food will be available for purchase.

When they plan events like this, organizers may consider asking a printer to user flyer printing to create handouts for local distribution.
