Dublin branch library plans revealed

After much discussion, plans for the Dublin, Ohio, branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library system were revealed to the public in mid-January, 2017. The new building, which is expected to cost more than $18 million, will offer 42,500 square feet of space, which is approximately twice the size of the current library, according to an article in the Columbus Dispatch.

In addition, the plan calls for a four-level parking garage with 500 spaces, 200 of which will be dedicated library parking. The other spaces are included in the garage plan to help alleviate parking problems caused by the city's growth.

Other features of the plan include parks, public plazas, and a pedestrian bridge spanning the Scioto River.

Inside, the design features open architecture, with room for several meetings rooms and more computers. The branch manager, Candy Princehorn, reassured attendees at a public meeting that despite creating space for additional uses, there is more than adequate room for Books. She said:
“We’re very committed to having a robust collection in the new space.”

There are 22 branch libraries in the Columbus system, of which ten are being replaced or rebuilt. Dublin is one of the last branches to be planned and is the most expensive. The city itself will contribute $15 million toward the project.

Projects like this can benefit if managers work with a newsletter printing company, to create an informative letter for residents, keeping them updated.
