A special camp for young people is coming to Dublin.
The Dublin Jerome cross-country coaching staff is hosting the 7th Annual Celtic Youth Running Camp, a three-day event. The camp is for both boys and girls who are entering the third through the ninth grade. Groups will be organized by experience and age.
Participating children should bring a water bottle, running shoes, and a digital watch. Although some snacks will be available, youngsters should bring additional food.
At the camp, attendees will receive coaching from the current cross-country staff members at Dublin Jerome, which will give them some exposure to the cross-country programs available at the high school level. They will also get to meet current high school runners, learn about the coaches via team building exercises, and learn about their fellow campers.
Training will include a group run every day with the speed and length of the runs varying, as well as games designed to help youngsters learn about cooperation, camaraderie, and teamwork. They will also learn physical and wellness practices taught by a special guest or a cross-country coach. Organizers of outings like this can use banner printing to create markers for the course.
The running camp will begin June 2 at 8.30 am, and end June 5 at 11.30 am. The location is Dublin Jerome High School at 8300 Hyland Croy Road. Rain day is June 6. The fee includes an officially timed race, daily Gatorade/snacks, a camp shirt, and lunch on the final day.
