Dublin is planning to undertake new construction in two tunnels for pedestrians this spring.
This is being carried out as part of the Pedestrian Tunnel Maintenance Plan. One of the projects will be the Emerald Parkway tunnel, which is west of Dublin Road. Work being done will include patching deteriorated concrete in the walls, repairing worn joints, refurbishing the railing, and maintenance to the stone veneer.
While this work is being done, the tunnel will be closed and the pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Dublin Road and Emerald Parkway can be used.
The other project is on the River Forest Tunnel which is under Dublin Road. This project will include refurbishing the railing, repairing worn joints, and replacing the stone veneer. This tunnel will be closed for three weeks. It will then reopen to pedestrians while the remaining elements of the tunnel undergo repairs.
Renovations to the Emerald Parkway tunnel are currently underway and the tunnel will be closed through Thursday July. It will be opened during the Memorial Tournament which runs from Thursday May 21 through Monday June 8. Work on the River Forest Tunnel will begin at the end of this month.
Local Print shops can help in spreading the word about such improvements to pedestrian tunnels and their benefits for residents throughout the community with Flyers, Booklets, and other printed materials.
