This redevelopment project will span over 200 acres. Design guidelines and zoning changes are being proposed that will encourage more connections among pedestrians, a stronger sense of place, and add more public areas and green space. Almost half of this area is now allocated for parking with just under 8,000 spaces.
An employee at the Metro Center, Michael Berlin, said:
“The location is perfect for this new development. They can bring in the housing, the retail, and make the space a lot more lively.”
Included in the new district would be civic, residential, and commercial spaces and more connections to neighborhoods in the area and the existing trail network in Dublin. Banner printing can be used at such sites to inform residents of such upcoming projects and their benefits for a community.
A senior planner for the city, Chris Will, said that Metro Center provides an opportunity to support future growth by building on an already established area rather than expanding into new locations.
The proposed rezoning will be considered by the City Council during the winter months. The process will also include input from the community.
