Dublin makes it easy to practice sustainability

Dublin aspires to become a city that practices sustainability and improves the environment. An upcoming event will make it simple for residents to help in this effort.

Dublin officials recognize that to be effective, recycling as to include more than just paper. The upcoming 2025 Sustainable Saturday will help in that effort, by giving residents a chance to recycle not only paper, but also Styrofoam Packaging, unwanted or expired prescription drugs, used textiles, and e-waste.

Small household items along with linens and clothing will be given to Goodwill. All types of clothing, no matter what condition it is in, will be accepted. Goodwill will recycle even tattered, old items.

There is a list of dozens of items that will be accepted, as well as a long list of those things that are not acceptable. Among those goods that will be taken and destroyed are hard drives, CDs, credit cards, file folders, paper mail, paper receipts, and paper documents.

Items acceptable for collection include all clothing, jewelry, curtains, drapes, holiday décor, and more. Among those items not acceptable are mattresses, TVs, and baby items.

There are many additional guidelines. Anyone considering bundling up their recycling and going to the event should check with the city for details.

2025 Sustainable Saturday is April 5, from 8.00 am until 1.00 pm, at the Dublin Service Center at 6555 Shier Rings Road. When they plan events like this, organizers can use banner printing to create Signs to indicate drop-off points.
