When the Beatles turned the music world upside down in the 1960s, they were not the only group to “invade” the United States. Among the other outfits that crossed the pond were The Kinks, the Rolling Stones, and Herman’s Hermits. Now, the Hermits are due to appear at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati. Promoters of events like this can advertise them using poster printing.
Herman’s Hermits’ original line up was headed by Peter Noone, with Karl Green, Keith Hopwood, Derek Leckenby, and Barry Whitwam rounding out the group. As part of the wave of British bands that swept into the U.S., Herman’s Hermits were in the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 for 24 consecutive weeks between March and August of 1965, with five singles. Two of them were number one hits: “I’m Henry VIII, I Am,” and “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.”
Their other international hits of the time include “My Sentimental Friend,” “A Must to Avoid,” “Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat,” “I’m into Something Good,” and others. They were also in four movies, two of which were specifically written for them. Many of their songs will be familiar to today’s audiences. A concert review says:
