Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (BBVD) first got together in 1989 in California. Their sound recreates a world of mob bosses, nightclubs, and beautiful gansters' “molls.” The big swing band leaders include legendary names like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Tommy Dorsey. Now BBVD is making this music available to everyone by touring widely, something they have done since they first formed.
The band performs about 150 shows annually, and now has a lot of recorded music, and more than two million album sales. They were also in residence at Los Angeles's Derby nightclub, where they drew crowds who learned about swing music for the first time, or remembered it from the big band era.
BBVD's music has been used in a number of television shows and feature films including “Despicable Me,” and “Friends.” They have made live appearances on “Late Night with Conan O'Brien” and have taken part in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Jay Leno invited them to appear on “The Tonight Show” seven times.
A review of the band live says:
“Great musicians, great songs, great time!! Loved it!”
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will be at the Taft Theater on August 30, at 8.00 pm. When a concert like this comes along, poster printing can provide colorful advertising.
