Street extension and additional parking added to The Banks

The Banks, a mixed-use, $29.3m project that is revitalizing Cincinnati’s riverfront, recently got additional parking, as well as an extension of Race Street.

Parking has increased by 710 spaces in a two-story structure, and the one-block extension is at ‘Lot 24’. The improvements were made to get The Banks ready for private investment, and were paid for by JobsOhio, Hamilton County, and Cincinnati itself.

In particular, the Race Street extension raises Lot 24 above the Ohio River 500-year flood level, and provides a base for new construction. At this time, it’s not certain who will build on top of Lot 24, though site planners see it as providing additional space for both residential and retail development.

Phil Beck, who is overseeing The Banks on behalf of Hamilton County and the city, said the project is now ready for private infrastructure, and public sector ventures can begin planning where to build.

The completion of this phase was notable because it met several important milestones: it created 384 jobs for construction workers, it was finished within budget and on time with no time lost because of safety incidents, and approximately 30% of the money used on the project went to small businesses.

Projects like these can benefit when managers work with brochure printing companies, which can create Booklets explaining the positives of investing in these types of developments.
