Pioneering musician heads to Cincinnati

A musician who is a pioneer in fields such as music videos, progressive rock, electronic music, and internet music delivery is coming to Cincinnati.

Todd Rundgren is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who has recorded over 20 studio albums, many compilation albums, singles, and produced albums for other artists, such as Meatloaf’s “Bat Out of Hell.”

Rundgren and Carson Van Osten, his friend, formed The Nazz, a garage rock group, when he was just starting out. He released three albums with them, “Nazz” in 1968; “Nazz Nazz” in 1969; and 1971’s “Nazz III,” but left the group to go solo.

His first album as a solo was 1970’s “Runt,” which included the track “We Gotta Get You a Woman,” which was a Top 40 hit. His most well-known songs include “I Saw the Light” and “Hello It’s Me” from 1972’s album “Something/Anything.” This album climbed to No. 29 on the US Billboard chart. Subsequent albums have not done as well, but Rundgren’s production ability have allowed him to continue his career by producing albums for artists like Meatloaf, Shaun Cassidy, and Patti Smith.

He is still performing, and a review of a live show says:

“He gets a 5-Star rating in all the categories as far as I’m concerned...musicianship, entertainment and of course, his timeless tunes.”

Todd Rundgren will appear at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center in Cincinnati on July 8. Performances like this can be promoted if organizers use poster printing services to create advertising for them.
