Schott Stadium, home to the University of Cincinnati's baseball team, has just been subject to various upgrades.
Arguably the most important is the replacement of its original turf. The Motz Group, a turf company based in Cincinnati, laid synthetic grass over all of Schott Stadium last month. The product, TriplePlay HP, was installed over the whole field, including the pitcher's mound and home plate.
TriplePlay HP, according to Motz, is designed especially for baseball. The company claims that, when compared to dirt or grass surfaces, the synthetic material offers a more realistic bounce.
In addition to the turf, Schott's dirt infield has been eliminated, and a new drainage system installed. The improvements, including the new turf, are intended to allow the team to manage its practice sessions better and play more games in bad weather.
The University of Cincinnati's football team, the Bearcats, plays in Nippert Stadium, which is also currently undergoing renovations. The stadium and Bearcats have been together in some form since 1901 and, since 1924, Nippert has been a complete facility rather than just a field. Its history makes it the fifth oldest such arena in college football, and the fourth oldest playing field.
University officials might consider working with a brochure printer to create a mailer for its alumni, outlining the improvements and asking for support.
