Multitalented performer to play Cincinnati

The one-time front man for a group that sold over 30 million records throughout the world is set to visit Cincinnati.

Colin Hay, who was born in Scotland and emigrated with his family to Australia, formed the group Men at Work in 1979 in Melbourne. Early in the 1980s the group began to achieve international success, and in 1983, they had both a single (“Down Under”) and an album (“Business as Usual”) in the top spot on the Billboard charts in the United States simultaneously – the first time an Australian group had topped both U.S. charts.

The same two works were simultaneous No. 1 hits in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. Their second album, “Cargo,” was also successful, as was “Two Hearts,” their third. In 1983, they received the “Best New Artist” Grammy award, but split up the following year.

Hay began touring with a backing band in 2019, but had no other members of the original band with him. He also expanded his efforts and has appeared in several films, as well as touring several times with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, which features a changing lineup of artists.

A concert review notes:

“Colin Hay is one of the best solo singer-songwriters performing today, and he puts on a very entertaining and engaging show.”

Colin Hay will appear at the Taft Theatre at 8:00 pm on March 30. Brochure printing can be used to create informative programs for events like this.
