Ghost of Paul Revere comprises Griffin Sherry handling vocals and guitar; Sean McCarthy onvocals and playing bass; and Max Davis, also doing vocals and playing the banjo. The trio comes from Portland, Maine, and first got together in 2011. Their first effort was an EP called “North,” which they dropped in 2012. In 2014, they released “Believe,” and “Monarch” followed in 2017. Interspersed among the full-length albums were two EPs. As they worked on these releases, the band developed their signature sound.
They have won praise from such sources as AXS, the Boston Globe, and Billboard, and have performed with artists such as Bela Fleck and Jason Isbell. They have headlined numerous sold-out events, and appeared at festivals such as Okeechobee and Austin City Limits.
The band won the “Best in Maine” award from the New England Music Awards twice, and had the honor of having their song, the “Ballad of the 20th Maine,” adopted as Maine’s official State Ballad. The title refers to a regiment that distinguished itself in combat at Gettysburg during the Civil War.
The Boston Globe says:
“The Maine-grown, foot-stompin’ holler-folk [group] . . . create the type of music for which festivals are made.”
Ghost of Paul Revere will be at The Ballroom of the Taft Theatre on January 20. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create attractive programs.
