Legendary artist/producer to come to Cincinnati

A man who has spent six decades making music, both as a producer and an artist, is coming to Cincinnati.

Jim Messina got his start in the 1960s, working as an audio engineer and producer for Buffalo Springfield, which he subsequently joined as bass player. The group disbanded in 1968, at which time Messina and bandmate Richie Furay founded Poco, with Jim as lead guitarist. The group released three successful albums and created a new genre of music, Country Rock.

Looking for a change, Messina left Poco to start producing music again and was signed by Columbia Records as an independent producer. In 1970, Columbia asked Messina to work with an artist who was just getting started—Kenny Loggins. As Messina prepped Loggins, the two clicked. They released “Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin’ In” in 1971 and a new duo was formed.

Loggins & Messina went on to release eight albums, all solid hits, and sold more than 16 million Copies in total, making them one of the most successful duos in rock.

After going solo again, Messina formed a third group and released his latest album “In the Groove,” in 2017. A review says:

“What a concert!!! From the early Poco days, his time with Loggins, etc...Jim Messina was awesome!”

Messina will be at the Ludlow Garage on September 23 at 8:30 pm. Advertising for events like this can be easily created when organizers use poster printing.
