Jazz guitar master coming to Cincinnati

A jazz guitarist, session player, instructor, and solo artist will soon be in Cincinnati for a concert, along with another songwriter.

Nils Jiptner, who is known simply as Nils, is originally from Munich, where he first took up the guitar as a teenager, inspired by groups such as Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Later, he found other genres such as fucion, jazz, and funk, and grew more skillful as he explored music created by artists like Larry Carlton and Robben Ford.

He moved to Los Angeles in the 1980s, where he studied film scoring, arranging, and composition, and found gigs as a session musician, playing with greats such as the Temptations, trumpet genius Rick Braun, and guitarist George Benson. He began his solo career with his release “Blue Planet.”

His breakthrough came in 2005 when he released “Pacific Coast Highway.” Two noteworthy singles on the album were the title song, which got all the way to No. 10 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs chart, and “Summer Nights,” which went to the top spot.

Johnny Britt is also on the bill. Johnny has written three songs that made it to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, and together, they are calling their performance the “Heart and Soul Tour.” When events like this are scheduled, organizers can use brochure printing to create souvenir programs for audience members.

Nils and Johnny will appear at the Ludlow Garage on March 4.
