Though they are now associated with Philadelphia, The Spinners got started in 1954 at Motown in Detroit. In 1972, Atlantic Records signed the group where they worked with Thom Bell. Under his guidance, The Spinners the well-known “Working My Way Back to You.” The single went to the top of both the R&B and Pop charts, and was the 12th gold record released by the group.
Throughout a career that has lasted over six decades, The Spinners have released smash hits that include “Then Came You,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” and the danceable “The Rubber Band Man.” The have been nominated for six Grammys, honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and seen 18 albums certified either Gold or Platinum. Worldwide, they have record sales in the millions.
They have continued to perform and tour regularly, and released an original, brand new album, “Round the Block and Back Again,” in 2021.
