Drivin’ n’ Cryin’ started out in Atlanta in 1985, playing a gig at the 688 Club. Their blazing live performances drew attention immediately, and they started building a fan base that flourished in the music scene in the Southeast in the 1980s. They have a unique rock sound with a Southern twang. A review notes that the band:
“...never disappoints and they were in TopForm . . . “
They are still going strong, and have now released a total of 11 albums, starting with “Scarred but Smarter” in 1986. Their most recent release, “Live the Love Beautiful,” dropped in 2019 on their own label. They also have a number of EPs and singles in their catalog.
One of their most successful albums was “Mystery Road,” which they released in 1989. Paste Magazine called it one of “The 50 Best Southern Rock Albums of All Time.” Their album “Fly Me Courageous” also earned Gold status.
The band was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2015, and continues to tour to packed houses. An indication of their influence is indicated by the fact they were the subject of a documentary called “Scarred but Smarter: Life n Times of Drivin’ n’ Cryin’” in 2012.
Drivin’ n’ Cryin’ will be at the Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati on August 10, where event organizers can use poster printing to create great advertising for the show.
