Everyones personal astrophysicist coming to Cincinnati

A man often credited with making science both understandable and fun will be in Cincinnati soon.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is the director of the Haydn Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which is part of the American Museum of Natural History, located in New York City. In 1997, Tyson founded the Department of Astrophysics in the museum and has been a research assistant there since 2003.

His interest in astronomy goes back to the time he visited the Hayden Planetarium when he was nine. He attended public school through high school, and did undergraduate work at Harvard, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Physics; graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, which granted him a Master of Arts in Astronomy; and Columbia University, where he earned a Master of Philosophy in Astrophysics in 1989, and a doctorate in astrophysics in 1991.

As impressive as his educational credits are, his ability to excite audiences about science is probably his best quality. His lectures are full of humor, and his guests are both knowledgeable and fun. He has written 19 Books and appeared in films and on television, often as himself, but sometimes playing a character. He is a communicator in the tradition of Carl Sagan, who was one of his mentors.

Tyson will be at the Andrew J Brady ICON Music Center on Race Street on May 6. When they plan events like this, organizers may use poster printing to advertise them.
