John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band got together in the 1970s and have enjoyed success playing gigs throughout the Northeast.
Cafferty may be most familiar to audiences from his work in Hollywood, when he and his band provided the soundtrack for “Eddie & the Cruisers,” a film released in 1983. Two of the tracks from the album, “Tender Years” and “On the Dark Side,” were so successful the soundtrack album made it to Triple Platinum status.
Cafferty is a native of North Providence, and began his musical career in junior high school. Cafferty and Kenny Jo Silva, a drummer who was also Cafferty’s friend, met again in college and formed the Beaver Brown Band. By 1977 the most successful line-up was in place, comprising Cafferty, Silva, Gary Gramolini on guitar, Pat Lupo on bass, Michael “Tunes” Antunes on sax, and Bobby Cotoia handling keyboards. The group blended vintage rock, R&B, and soul into their signature sound.
A review noted:
“John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band put on a Great show. . . . Brought back fond memories of younger years!”
Cafferty and his band will be at the Ludlow Garage on April 9. When events like this are scheduled, organizers can turn to poster printing to create striking advertising.
