A country artist who found success as a songwriter, then broke in as a singer, will appear at Riverfront Live in Cincinnati this summer.
Phil Vassar is a Virginia native who entered the country music scene as a songwriter late in the 1990s. At that time, he co-wrote singles for a number of artists including “Right on the Money” for Alan Jackson; “My Next Thirty Years” and “For a Little While” for Tim McGraw; and “I'm Alright” and “Bye, Bye” for Jo Dee Messina. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) named him “Country Songwriter of the Year” in 1999.
It was also in 1999 that Vassar began to make his mark as a recording artist. He dropped “Phil Vassar,” his debut album, in 2000, and had the satisfaction of watching five tracks hit the U.S. Billboard Country Singles chart, earning the album Gold status in the U.S. He released the album “Stripped Down” in 2020.
A review of the artist in concert says:
“But what I love most about Vassar is that he always plays for the crowd. . . . On this night, we were treated to a set full of the songs we know. The songs we love.”
Vassar will be in Cincinnati on July 17, at 8:00 pm, with the doors opening an hour earlier. Poster printing is frequently used to announce events like this.
