The Doobie Brothers are on their 50th Anniversary Tour in company with Michael McDonald. Fans are particularly excited by this, as McDonald is one of the early members of the group. Like most bands with their history, the Doobie Brothers’ line-up has changed over the years, so having such an important member join the tour is particularly important to long-term admirers.
The group first got together in San Jose, California, in 1970, as a quartet. The four original members were Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, Dave Shogren, and John Hartman. McDonald first joined the outfit in 1975.
The band released their inaugural album, “The Doobie Brothers,” in 1971, to limited success. However, their sophomore effort, “Toulouse Street,” which dropped the following year, was their breakthrough, and contained two of their biggest hits, “Jesus Is Just All Right,” and “Listen to the Music.” They have now released 36 singles, nine compilation albums, five live albums, and 15 studio albums. Their most recent album, “Liberté,” dropped just last year.
A concert review says:
“After such a long, hard-rocking career, the band still sounds full and performs incredibly well.”
The Doobie Brothers will be at the Riverbend Music Center on July 7. When events such as this are set up, organizers can help spread the word by using poster printing to create striking advertising.
