The Steve Miller Band is still headed by Steve Miller, who first created the group in 1966. Miller had moved to Chicago in 1965, drawn by its blues scene, and while in the Windy City, founded the Goldberg-Miller Blues Band along with keyboard magician Barry Goldberg. The other members were Maurice McKinley, Craymore Stevens, and Roy Ruby. They made one record, “The Mother Song,” and then Miller left for San Francisco and the psychedelic music scene there.
In 1966, he formed the Steve Miller Blues Band, later shortened to the Steve Miller Band, and began releasing singles that are still played regularly on classic rock stations. The band was signed by Capitol Records in 1967, and the next year, they dropped “Children of the Future,” their debut album. The band went on to release albums such as “Book of Dreams,” and “Sailor.” In 1978, they released “Greatest Hits 1974-78,” which sold more than 13 million Copies. Steve Miller was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.
A review says:
“The Steve Miller Band is a must see for classic rock and blues fans. Steve Miller is still amazing both vocally and on the guitar. This guy can play like no other."
