Cincinnati Zoo makes Wi-Fi available to visitors

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden has just installed a Wi-Fi network so visitors can connect to friends and family while they are visiting the zoo.

According to an article on the Fox 19 website, zoo officials said the network, which they called ‘ZooFreeWiFi’, will be available throughout the city in coffee shops, parks, museums, hotels, breweries, libraries, hotels, and even some churches, so people at the zoo can easily share videos and photos with others.

Chad Yelton, the zoo's vice president of marketing and public relations, said that the zoo is the ‘most Instagrammed location in Ohio’, so it made sense to add the Wi-Fi network. If visitors are able to show friends and family that they are having fun and what they are doing, or share information about an animal or conservation efforts, they are expanding the zoo's audience, said Yelton.

He added that the zoo hopes the new network will boost awareness as people post on Twitter and Facebook.

Powernet engineered the network, which can handle 10,000 clients simultaneously. There are 170 access points hidden throughout the zoo, designed to blend into the environment. Alli Stevens, Powernet's CEO, spoke of the exciting and unique nature of the idea, stressing that the company enjoyed the challenge of finding a technical solution that blended in with the zoo's appearance.

Organizations such as these can benefit from working with newsletter printing companies that can help disseminate information about changes and improvements.
