Cincinnati Symphony a hit in the UK

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is on tour in the United Kingdom and Europe, and its performances have met with rave reviews and cheering audiences.

In 1921, the CSO made history as the first orchestra in the United States to broadcast a performance to a nationwide audience. Last week, it made broadcasting history again, when its concert was streamed live from London to the United States. Fans in Cincinnati could tune in and hear their local orchestra play live at the BBC Proms, and the concert was also broadcast throughout the UK. The audience at the Proms concert was estimated at 6,000 people.

Maestro Louis Langrée was on the podium, and among the selections were ‘Lincoln Portrait’ by Aaron Copeland. The selection, which features some of Lincoln's words, was narrated by Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lannister in the hit television show ‘Game of Thrones’. This piece was first performed by the CSO in 1942, and has not been heard in the UK since 1943.

From London, the CSO flew to Spain to give concerts in San Sebastián and Santander. After finishing its Spanish engagement, the orchestra flew to Utrecht in the Netherlands, where it gave a free concert for refugees.

Organizations like this might consider working with a brochure printing company to create a brochure to mail to subscribers and other interested parties, announcing the travel schedule and the broadcasts.
