Bluesman slated for Cincinnati

A genius with guitar and harmonica and master of the blues is on the way to Cincinnati.

Delbert McClinton is known as a successful recording artist, but his talent may shine most when he is performing on stage. His energy and drive get his audiences up on their feet to dance to hits like “Every Time I Roll the Dice” and “Giving It Up for Your Love”.

As a Lubbock, Texas, native, McClinton started his career with a bar band known as the Straitjackets. His climb to fame began in 1962, when he was a featured harmonica player on “Hey! Baby,” a number one hit for Bruce Channel. Early in the 1970s, McClinton started releasing his own albums, seeing “Love Rustler,” which he dropped in 1977, and 1979’s “Keeper of the Flame” both chart.

McClinton is also a songwriter and wrote the No. 1 hit “Two More Bottles of Wine” in 1978, for Emmylou Harris. In 1980, he had a success of his own with “Giving It Up for Your Love,” a song that rose to the No. 8 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

A review says:

"Delbert McClinton is a Hall of Famer and a Legend, but make no mistake he can rock the house. . . . Blues, rock, honky tonk, country and boogie woogie. He is the consummate artist, singer songwriter."

McClinton will be at the Ludlow Garage on June 12 at 8.30 pm, where organizers could use poster printing to promote this event.
