The Centerville-Washington Park District is the organizer of an event that should make Lego lovers smile.
Stemily Studios is hosting the Lego Palooza, a minicamp featuring Lego that should be both fun and educational. The Stemily team will assist participants in everything from challenging building projects to creating robots, while showing what it is possible to do with the timeless colorful building blocks. The camp is two days in length, so attendees will need to bring a snack and a water bottle both days. They will also need to wear shoes with closed toes.
Danish toy company Lego manufactures plastic bricks of assorted colors that can be interlocked to build objects such as robots, buildings, and vehicles. The constructions can be dismantled, and the pieces reused.
The motto of Stemily, the team running the event, is “Making Engineering FUN!” It has developed lessons for teachers, Scout leaders, and others to help them teach youngsters about STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) subjects. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create instruction sheets for attendees.
The Lego camp is designed for youngsters from age 7 to age 12, and is set for January 2 and 3, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm both days. The location is Activity Center Park on North Main Street in Centerville. The fee for residents is $55 and $72 for non-residents, and people must register by December 26.
