Centerville in celebration of a great race

May brings one of the most famous races in the world, the Kentucky Derby, and a restaurant in Centerville is inviting people to celebrate the occasion with them at a wine-pairing event.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is the host of the upcoming Run for the Rosés - Wine Club Pairing Dinner. People who are planning to attend the party at Cooper’s are encouraged to follow Derby tradition and wear fedoras, fascinators, and beautiful hats, though the drinks will be provided by the restaurant.

A wine pairing event is a meal in which chefs and wine experts work together to decide which wines will go well (“pair”) with the food being served. The event starts with mint juleps, and then a buttermilk biscuit made with scallions and white cheddar, glazed with honey butter.

Next is a salad made with arugula, fennel, and brie blackberry-orange jam. The wine with this course is Katie Lee Rosé, a variety developed with Katie Lee Biegel of the Food Network.

Old Vine Zinfandel will accompany the main course, which is braised pork shanks served with onion strings, pimento cheese grits, and succotash.

Dessert is a chocolate-pecan cake served with a toffee mousse and vanilla anglaise. The beverage with this course is Kentucky Coffee.

The event is Tuesday, May 9, from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and guests must be 21 years of age and above. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create Menus for the guests.
