Centerville families find new way to get active outdoors

Slacklining is bringing many families together in Centerville to enable them get active outdoors, and an upcoming event will put it in the spotlight.

Showcasing this athletic form of tightrope walking, Slackline 101 is designed to expose participants to fundamental slackline skills, such as standing, sitting, kneeling, and possibly walking on the line. The event, which is organized as a family wellness program, is primarily aimed at helping families become active outdoors through various slacklining techniques designed to enhance their confidence level while having fun.

In between slackline turns, a “Hammock Lounge” will be provided for participants. According to the program organizers, this provision will be made by Great Miami Outfitters who will be available at the event. The event is open to both male and female participants from ages 8 and up, although those who are 15 or younger need to be accompanied by an adult.

While prospective attendees are required to register online before the deadline on July 30, the actual event is scheduled to be held on August 1 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Watkins Glen Park. Centerville residents are expected to pay $25 per session, while nonresidents may register with a fee of $35.
