Celebrating the movies in Centerville

A fun event is coming up in Centerville that will appeal to film fans and foodies alike.

Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants are holding a Silver Screen Soiree, which is a wine pairing dinner with a twist—each of the courses is inspired by a specific film.

The dinner is a celebration of the cinema, and attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite character and share their love of films with other enthusiasts. Events like this are perfect places for people with common interests to exchange Business Cards.

The dinner starts with a champagne fizz, a drink inspired by the classic film “Casablanca.” Next up is “The Roll Dance,” inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s 1925 silent film “Gold Rush.”

“Bridget Jones Diary” is the inspiration for leek soup with lobster, crostini, and chive oil, to be served with a white wine.

“Julia Julia,” the movie about the legendary chef, has inspired Beef Bourguignon ala Julia Child. The dish features pearl onions, mushrooms, bacon lardon, smashed crispy fingerling potatoes, and baby carrots. This will be paired with a red wine.

If anyone has room, dessert is courtesy of “Titanic,” and is a Waldorf custard pudding garnished with toasted walnuts, whipped cream, ginger, raisins, and apples. A sparkling almond wine will accompany the sweet.

The upcoming soiree is scheduled for February 21 at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, at 5220 Cornerstone North Boulevard in Centerville, from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Tickets are $69, and refunds are available until seven days prior to the event.
