Pet owners offered pet care program

Pet owners here in Amherst will get the chance to experience a PetSaver: Pet CPR, First-Aid, and Care program in early November.

Chip Ingersoll, owner and certified professional dog trainer and consultant of The Alpha-Dog Pet Center will be offering the 8-hour class that will cover wellness, first aid skills, CPR techniques, and dental and senior care and health for both cats and dogs.

Registration is $125 including training materials, PetSaver handbooks and patches and certificates upon completion. The handbook will give tips on how to put together a pet first aid kit, and supplies and equipment will be available to assemble the kits.

Skills to be covered will include restraining and muzzling, primary assessment, rescue breathing, feline and canine CPR, choking, shock and bleeding management, injury and wellness assessment, and assessing vitals. Each of these skills will have hands-on practice.

Lectures will include snakebite stings and insect bites, cold and heat injuries, seizures, and caring for senior pets.

Pet owners that take classes like this can have pictures taken with their pets and completion certificates and have them taken to local Print shops to be added to family newsletters.

PetSaver: Pet CPR, First-Aid, and Care will take place Sunday, November 10th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Alpha-Dog Pet Center's rear classroom, 46370 Middle Ridge Road.
