Amherst to jingle all the way to 5k
Community Congregational United Church of Christ will be presenting their annual Jingle All the Way 5k on Christmas Eve morning.
Registration will be $25 for adults until December 10th and $30 thereafter. Walkers and runners who are less than 18 years old may participate for $10. Official JATW5K t-shirts will be guaranteed to those signing up before December 10th.
The race will begin and end at Amherst Steele High School. The route is a little different this year and will be kept on quiet neighborhood roads to avoid closing any main streets.
Residents that live along courses that run through neighborhoods like this occasionally get some poster printing done before the race and place colorful posters in their yards to show support for their favorite runners.
Those wishing for a less stressful morning may opt to participate in the 1-MIle Fun Walk.
The community will come together after the race to enjoy hot cocoa, Christmas carols and Christmas cookies. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will stop by to greet the children before taking off on their long yearly sleigh ride.
All racing fees will go to Blessing House, an organization helping local children in need.
Race packets containing jingle bells, t-shirts, and race bibs will be available at CCUCC, 379 S. Main from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on December 23rd, and on race day.
CCUCC Jingle All the Way 5k will take place Wednesday, December 24th at 450 Washington Street beginning at 9:00 am.
