Amherst tees off for charity

The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 40th annual Woollybear Golf Outing in early September.

Registration per team will be $500, which will include 18 holes of golf using a foursome golf scramble format with an 8:30 am shotgun start, a 50/50 raffle, breakfast, lunch, a steak dinner, a keg of beer, prizes, and swag Bags.

The first place winner will receive $1,000 and the second place golfer will go home with $500. The hole-in-one challenge will have prizes totaling over $50,000. Woollybear mascots will add to the festivities.

This golf outing and the Woollybear Festival coming in early October are dedicated to the beginning of the woollybear season and to FOX 8 meteorologist Dick Goddard, who championed the woolly caterpillar as a weather mascot.

Proceeds from this event will go to the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, which supports local charities, community events, programs, and local initiatives.

Seven sponsorships levels are available, starting at $125 hole sponsorship and going all the way up to $1,500 for the dinner package. All sponsors that contribute $200 or more will need to get their logos to the event organizers before any event banner printing gets underway.

The 40th Annual Woollybear Golf Outing will take place Friday, September 5 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Whiskyville Golf Club, 9488 Leavitt Road, South Amherst.
