Two events have been planned for Amherst later this month.
The first one, the Amherst Fire Department Pancake Breakfast and Open House, will conclude this year’s Fire Prevention Week.
Everyone is invited to enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee, and orange juice, and view the trucks afterwards. Special photo props will be available to take pictures of the kids.
Pictures taken of kids on firetrucks and wearing firemen’s helmets often go to nearby Print shops to be added to family newsletters.
The Pancake Breakfast will take place Sunday, October 15 from 9:00 am to noon at Amherst Fire Department, 414 Church Street. Although tickets are not necessary, cash donations at the door will be greatly appreciated.
Not long after, Studio Photography will be hosting the Amherst Halloween Parade and Costume Contest 2023.
Local small businesses, Mayor Costilow, city, fire, and police departments have donated prizes for the costume contest, and this year the contest has been divided into four categories – 0-5-year-olds, 6-10-year-olds, 11-18 year-olds, and Family/Group.
Parade entrants are to meet at the Utilities Department, 480 Park Avenue. The parade will step off at 4:00 pm and, led by the Amherst Marching Comets, proceed down to Town Hall where Kiedrowski’ Bakery will be distributing treats.
Participants are to start queuing up at 3:00 pm, and the judging will be around 3:30 pm.
The Amherst Halloween Parade & Costume Contest 2023 will take place on Sunday, October 29.
