Amherst gets a taste of history

History buffs here in Amherst will either be participants or spectators at the Taste of History 2025.

The event is a military living history experience, presented by the Amherst Historical Society, Lorain County Visitors Bureau, and the Military History Preservation Group. The free event will be coming for two days later this month.

More than 3,500 guests are expected to attend this timeline display of friend or foe, home front, camp followers, and military history. Field kitchens will hold a competition making rations and food that was doled out to soldiers down through history. Food samples will be available for a small donation between noon and 4:00 pm.

Over 200 reenactors are expected to present tactical and shooting demonstrations, and set up static displays. There will be various interactive activities for the children, and vendors will be selling vintage, historical, and military surplus items. Awards will go out to some of the most impressive.

Free parking will be available at Amherst Junior High, 548 Milan Avenue, and a free shuttle service will take visitors to the site.

Organizers of historical events like this often get some poster printing done to decorate the town days before the event is scheduled to occur.

Taste of History 2025 will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on June 13 and 14 at Sandstone Village, 736 Milan Avenue.
