Akron golfers take to links to help pets

Akron golfers and pet lovers are invited to take to the links for an important fundraiser for the Humane Society of Summit County.

Putts for Pets Golf Outing includes a day of golfing, other activities, two free drinks, a bagged lunch and dinner. Animals up for adoption at the Humane Society of Summit County will make an appearance on the course.

Social distancing rules have reduced the number of teams that can participate in the event. The first 16 foursomes can register, so organizers are encouraging those who wish to join to act fast.

The golf-day begins with a morning registration and a shotgun start at 12:30 pm. A cocktail hour is scheduled for when the golfers conclude their games at 5:00 pm, followed by dinner and an awards ceremony. Dinner may be a takeaway option if current social distancing rules are still in place.

Registration is $500 for each foursome team, or $130 for an individual golfer. All the money raised will go to the Humane Society of Summit County, which cares for abused and neglected animals in Summit County. It is located in Twinsburg.

There will also be raffles and contests throughout the day. Sponsorships are still available. Events such as this one create opportunities to recognize sponsors with banner printing.

The outing is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 13 at the Silver Lake Country Club, 1325 Graham Rd., in Silver Lake, less than a 15-minute drive north of Akron on Highway 8.
