The new president of the New York chapter of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) is the Assistant Superintendent of Business for Valley Stream District 24, Jack Mitchell.
News of such significant appointments and their relevance for a school district are often disseminated throughout a community with flyer printing.
Mitchell has been a member of the ASBO for many years and is dedicated to networking with other school business officials and developing educational initiatives. His involvement with the New York chapter of the ASBO led him to an opportunity to work with other educators to build a sustainable school in Guatemala with classrooms made from inorganic trash and plastic bottles.
Unal Karakas, superintendent of the school district, said that Dr. Mitchell goes above and beyond in his duties, as he always brings new ideas to the district and is forever sharpening his skills. Karakas added that the entire district and the Board of Education are proud of him for this accomplishment and believe that he will make important contributions in this new role.
ASBO-NY is a non-profit organization of members chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and affiliated with the Association of School Business Officials International. It was founded in 1948 and has worked to support the professional growth of its members, foster connections, and serve as the leading resource for school finance.
