The Sears Auto Care facility, the Sears store, and the parking lot are being torn down to make way for a renovation of 400,000 square feet with a price tag of $150 million.
What was once space for a department store will become a ShopRite supermarket that will span 60,000 square feet. The remaining space will be redeveloped and will house Dave’s Hot Chicken, Shake Shack, Panda Express, and the Cheesecake Factory, all of which have signed leases.
In addition, there will be a remaking of the Kohl’s building into a plaza of storefronts that will face outwards, open air dining, green spaces, and a brand new entrance at the northeast wing of the mall.
Such sites often turn to banner printing to inform residents and shoppers of major updates and improvements.
Joe Floccari, general manager of Green Acres, said that this is a natural progression of their vision to make Green Acres a dynamic destination that embraces the future while also honoring its legacy. The executive director of Association for a Better Long Island, Kyle Strober, said that these renovations will bring modern amenities, new public spaces, and jobs to the area and ensure that Green Acres:
“…remains a vibrant centerpiece for the community for generations to come.”
The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
