Tredway, a real estate developer of affordable and mixed housing, recently purchased Ocean Park in Far Rockaway. This purchase may be of interest to those in nearby Valley Stream.
Part of the team that worked on the purchase agreement was founding partner of Ariel Property Advisors, Victor Sozio. He said that this will mean a new chapter for property, which was built in 1971, and it will also see some significant capital improvements.
The city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development entered an agreement with Tredway to keep 179 units affordable for people earning 80% of the median income in the area and 423 units at 60% to prevent significant rent increases in the coming years. City Harvest will also be providing expanded monthly food distributions, and Rising Tides Effect, a non-profit organization, will be offering water safety and swimming programming.

Founder and CEO of Tredway, Will Blodgett, expressed his excitement about taking on the stewardship of Ocean Park and undertaking a preservation effort that will improve the affordability of the property, while also carrying out expanded social services, improvements in energy efficiency, and critical capital repairs.
Blodgett added that a collaboration of city, state, and federal housing officials, as well as the elected representatives in the area and the residents of the complex, made this purchase and preservation possible.
