The PTA Reflections award program is an arts initiative across the country that highlights exceptional art students for the past 50 years. There were over 500 applicants for this award this year, whose theme was “I Belong!”
There are several categories in the PTA Reflections program that feature visual arts, photography, music composition, literature, film production, and dance choreography. The criteria of technical skill creativity, and interpretation of the theme are used to judge the submissions.
Jenna Petikas, Michael’s art teacher, was an important supporter as he advanced through the PTA Reflections process at the local, county, regional and state levels. Officials from the district said that her support and encouragement helped in guiding him to bring his vision to life.
Monique Retzlaff, Director of Performing and Fine Arts, expressed pride of Michael on behalf of the district and this recognition which he very much deserved. Retzlaff added:
“Michael's achievement is a beautiful reflection of his creativity, dedication, and the meaningful support provided by the educators who help nurture and encourage our students each day.”
Local Print shops can help amplify such recognitions, and their significance to the community, through Flyers, mailers, and other printed materials.
