The Nassau County Museum of Art is displaying three exhibits on the subject of photography, which opened in November and are set to continue until March. The post-holiday season is as good as any a time for residents to view these exhibitions.
‘Sight and Feeling: Photographs of Ansel Adams’ is on loan from the Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts. Several of the photographer’s original works are on display, including ‘Vernal Fall, Yosemite Valley, CA’, which was taken in 1920.
‘Light Wares: 100 Years of Photos’ features the works of many of the world’s best photographers, including Eadweard Muybridge, Dorothea Lange, Alfred Stieglitz, and Diane Arbus.
‘Long Island Collects: Photography’ features works created from the 1960s up to the present, and they are on loan from private collectors. Included in this exhibit is the work of John Baldessari, Robert Mapplethorpe, Cindy Sherman, William Wegman, and several others.
For anyone living on Long Island who is interested in graphic design and photography, including those from Valley Stream, these exhibits should not be missed.
The three exhibitions will be on display at the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor until March 5. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for students. To find out more about these exhibitions, or about upcoming ones, call 516-484-9337.
