Garcia-France has spent the past four years as associate superintendent for curriculum, educational, and instructional services at Nassau BOCES, having previously served the Valley Stream district as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. Her goal as the head of the district is to prepare students to be successful in the by helping them to be competitive in the complex world of the 21st Century. This means training in financial, environmental, and civic literacy, as well as knowledge of the core subjects.

Garcia-France expressed her belief that it is important to introduce students to multiple career and educational paths. She said that not everyone has the ability or can access college and that not all students need to follow this path. She added that the curriculum offered by the district needs to account for many choices.
