A birding hike will be offered at Valley Stream State Park this weekend.
This hike will offer the opportunity for attendees to walk along the stream and find the many different birds that live along, in, and above it. The goal is to try to identify and observe the species that make the park their home. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars and to register in advance for the hike. Parking will be available at Field 1.
Such special hikes are often promoted throughout the area with flyer printing.
Valley Stream State Park is designed for day use and is adjacent to a residential area that is highly developed. Among the amenities at the park are picnic areas with tables, grills, and fireplaces, as well as play areas for children, volleyball, horseshoes, ball fields, and basketball. The park also features cross-country ski trails and nature trails.
The Squirrel Nut and Hickory Nut nature trails provide an opportunity for children to explore the various habitats within the park. A walking course within the park offers a half-mile loop featuring 15 stations, at which there are a variety of strengthening and stretching exercises for walkers. The focus is on cardiovascular fitness and longevity for all ages.
This hike will take place this Saturday, June 3, beginning at 10:00 am.
