Whimsical event planned by Rochester play museum

A Rochester museum will be hosting an exhibit that will explore the stories surrounding unicorns, and since it is being held at The Strong National Museum of Play, the public can expect to experience lots of hands-on fun.

The museum has created an exhibit that will combine fact and fantasy, with unicorns taking pride of place. It will include photo ops, games, arts and crafts and lots of other fun, and on the Saturday morning, guests at the museum can watch a balloon artist at work creating a life sized sculpture of one of these mythical yet fascinating animals.

The Strong’s resident biologist will offer a chance to discover facts about Hercules, who is the whitemargin strongfish that calls the museum home, and the Unicorn Prince and Princess will be available for photo ops. Kids can make their very own unicorn hat, try their luck at unicorn ring toss, and on the Saturday morning, balloon artist John Barthelmes from Spotlight Arts will be giving a live demonstration of his skills as he creates a unicorn made entirely from balloons.

Planning this type of family-friendly event can sometimes be a bit of a headache. Print shops can come to the rescue, offering a full line of printed items as well as helpful advice.

The Strong has scheduled this magical event for January 11 and 12. Admission is included with the usual museum entry fee.
