Rochester gathering makes sustainability simple

Mother Nature can use a helping hand, and a Rochester activity will show how, with a few simple steps, it is possible to keep a lot of textiles out of a community’s solid waste streams.

The organizers of the SewGreen Sustainability Faire have organized a gathering that will be all about the joys of repurposing and upcycling clothing. There will also be chances to learn some new crafting techniques in a hands-on way.

In an event being co-hosted by Sew Green Rochester and Neighbors in Action, attendees will be able to find out how they can use various techniques to breathe new life into an old piece of clothing or other textiles. Embroidering, knitting, sewing, weaving, and crocheting will all be demonstrated, and there will be volunteers available to teach mending and other repair and repurposing skills. The goal is to promote both environmental sustainability and self-sufficiency.

Organizers of environmentally focused functions may find a lot of products and support at a printing services company. It will have a variety of green options to choose from and can aid its clientele in selecting the ones best suited to their budget and needs

The SewGreen Sustainability Faire is scheduled for this Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The whole family is invited to drop by Susan B. Anthony Park to experience it in person.
