What's Happening in Rochester, NY…

Rochester collects coats for those in need

A Rochester winter can be icy cold, but thanks to a local program, those in need will have a coat and other gear to help keep them warm.

The Office of Violence Prevention and Blue35LLC have put out a call to all those who call the city home seeking donations for the 2025 Our Community Coat Drive and Giveaway. The organizers have worked hard to make it easy to contribute, and the clothing for all ages is being collected.

Coats, jackets, and other outerwear for the winter can be dropped off at the collection point set up at 1225 Ridgeway Avenue, Suite A. If this is not possible, a pickup of items can be arranged by calling (585) 309-8514.

The distribution of the donated clothing will be taking place on Sunday, November 30 at the Willie Lightfoot R-Center Gym. Items will be available free of charge as long as supplies last.

Promoting a clothing drive or other activity to the local community may be key to its success, and a poster printing company will be happy to help. They can supply a full line of marketing materials, many of which may be well suited to a not-for-profit organization’s budget.

This chance for Rochester residents to make sure no one goes cold this winter will see coats distributed on Sunday, November 30. The activity will run from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
