Rochester workshop to introduce benefits of raised bed gardening

Gardening is a hobby that can be enjoyed by any age, and a Rochester presentation will show how using raised beds offers a way to make it easier on the knees and back.

The University of Rochester will be presenting a lecture created by Cornell Cooperative Extension, and it will introduce raised beds and how they can be incorporated into a variety of garden plans. They can be used to grow a large assortment of plants including both flowers and vegetables, and come in several styles.

The facilitator will discuss how easy it can be to grow healthful vegetables and small fruits at home, and there will be a review of the ones that tend to be the most successful. The audience can learn new ways of planting and harvesting their crop, and they will find out the advantages of using raised beds, even if they already have a typical “ground level” garden.

The organizer of this online activity can be reached at (585) 276-9110. The attendees in this sort of function often appreciate receiving printed versions of the materials discussed during the session, and these can be obtained from local Print shops.

This instalment of University of Rochester's Health Bites program will take place on March 9. It is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm, and it will be hosted using the Zoom platform.
