The city will be embracing the season this weekend with an event filled with family-friendly entertainment.
The 39th annual Lakeside Winter Celebration will be set up at Ontario Beach, and admission to the two days of festivities will be free. Both demonstrations and hands-on fun are in the works, and the Polar Plunge will be back as well.
Plans for Saturday include demonstrations of snow and ice sculptures, and everyone can enjoy a taste of yesteryear with a horsedrawn sleigh ride. Food and beverages may be purchased on site, and there will also be a pop-up market. A heated tent will provide the chance to warm up while listening to live music, and home chili chefs can enter the Chilly Chili Challenge. A fireworks show will take place, and the next day, a group of intrepid bathers will take to the icy waters of the lake for the Polar Plunge.
Winter festivals often include outdoor activities in spite of the weather, and a banner printing company can supply decor options that may be suitable for use outside. Those intended for reuse may be folded flat or rolled up for storage.
The organizers of Rochester’s 39th annual Lakeside Winter celebration will be bringing frosty fun to the city Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2, running from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm each day. The planners of the festivities can be reached by phone at (585) 820-4068.
